You'll Never Believe This!

Yesterday Matthew had his very first hamburger.

Yep, my 9-year-old kid finally gathered the courage to try a hamburger! I guess when you're brave enough to have a least 4 shots a day, you're brave enough to try a hamburger.

Somehow Matthew convinced himself years ago that he wouldn't like one. We kept telling him.....but you like meat.....you like bread.....we'll load it with ketchup....try it. (What pushers we are!)

Anyway, yesterday was the day. (It helped that McDonald's is giving away Shrek watches.)

Verdict: He liked it! But next time, he's going for the kid-size double cheese burger.

Too funny! Glad he liked it. My Little guy has just recently started wanting cheeseburgers too. It is funny how they get it into their mind that they won't like something even before they try it.

I am not sure if I introduced myself on your blog before. I think I found you through someone else's blog. :)

My name is Tracy, although on my blog I do not use any names for me or my kids.

Here is a link to my blog: http://www.onesuperheroandoneprincess.blogspot.com

I look forward to continuing to read your blog!

There are just some things that kids won't eat...even though it may taste amazing! Isn't that funny!

I am amazed that he was able to hold out this long, I guess the burger was worth waiting for :)

Isn't it funny the things we WANT our kids to like. Before my daughter's diagnosis I went through this phase of wanting all my kids to try and like Coco Puffs. None of them liked it, so thankfully we're back to Cheerios. I can't for the life of me remember why I NEEDED them to like sugary cereal.

Glad the burger went well. Personally, I don't think I could survive without cheesburgers! Hope his numbers held steady for you!

Want to hear something funny? I used to think I hated hamburgers too, until I discovered that what I REALLY hated were the onions that were on the burgers. Take off the onions, and it's all good!

I think food is a funny thing for all of us and we are not sure what we really like until we see what happens on the blood sugar end of it . I think we all look at food differently when we are t1s or taking care of one .

I think my 8 year old could live on cheeseburgers. ANY restaurant we go to...mexican or what have you, if they have a burger as an option, that is what he'll go for. He surprised me yesterday choosing fish and chips over a burger. Our little guys are growing up!
